Boaz Arad was born in Afula and grew up in Holon. He studied Art at the Avni Institute from 1978-82 and theory at Camera Obscura from 1995-2006. He taught at the Thelma Yellin School (1983–2006), at Camera Obscura, at the Beit Berl Art College (2001–2018) and at the Bezalel Department of Photography (2001–2018).
Arad began exhibiting in 1985. He worked in various media, initially in painting, drawing and sculpture, and later in photography, and especially in video. His works combine humor, objects and everyday events, ironic observation of questions of identity and memory, and more. As of 2008, Arad will be displayed by the Rosenfeld Gallery, Tel Aviv.
In October 2010, Arad replaced Doron Rabina as curator of the gallery of the Midrasha in Tel Aviv, "Hayarkon 19". (October 2009 - 2018). Arad has curated nearly eighty exhibitions at the gallery, including many solo exhibitions, group exhibitions, and even an exhibition for the artist David Handler, whose works he has collected for many years. Arad was also a collector of African art. Arad has also published a number of interviews, reviews and article. His works have been purchased by private collectors in Israel and around the world, and are in the collections of the main museums in Israel, and in the hands of several museums abroad.
